2009 Spokane Japan Week, April 18-26th
Last year, over 200 area teens turned out for a night of Japanese urban fashion, live music, games, and delicious instant ramen! When asked about the event, JETAA member Ned replied, “obviously, it’s no Sakura-Con, but for the kids of Spokane, this is as close as you can get to a night out in Ame-Mura or Harajuku in Eastern Washington.” Prior to the “Hara-Hara” party, there really were no events for the all-ages crowd during Japan Week. It’s really cool to be able to provide kids in Spokane who are interested in modern Japanese Culture an event they get excited about.” This year, former PNW JET Alumni Association Treasurer Shun Endo’s band, The Liquid Now, will be making the journey across the Cascades to bring a little rock and roll to Japan Week Spokane. Apart from the “Hara-Hara” scene, Inland JETAA will also have a table set up for prospective JETs at the opening ceremonies on Saturday, April 18th at Spokane’s Riverpark Square. For more information on Japan Week Spokane and the Hara-Hara party, check out http://www.japanwee kspokane. com/.

2008 INLAND JETAA Bonnenkai, Friday December 19, 8pm
As we near the end of 2008, I’d like to invite Inland JETAA alumni to a bonnenkai!
Who: JET alumni, friends and family
What: traditional(ish) Bonnenkai
When: Friday December 19th – 8:00pm
Where: Raw Sushi and Island Grill (523 W 1st Ave)
Why: tis the season…do we really need more reason than that?
If you’re able to make it, please let me know (inland.jetaa@yahoo.com) so I can warn the restaurant. JETAA is not covering any of the cost this year so you’ll just pay for what you order. That said, it would still be nice to know who is planning to attend.

Inland JETAA Member Ned Fadeley is working with the students of Rivercity Leadership Academy to plan a trip to Japan. Help support this fellow JETs efforts and let’s help out students who want to experience Japan!
Destination: Kansai: ?????????!High School Students Plan Trip to Japan
The students of Rivercity Leadership Academy, a project-based public charter school in the West Valley School District, have been hard at work this fall raising money for a spring trip to Japan. At RLA, students determine the curriculum based on their own unique interests and skills. One of those interests, not surprisingly, was modern Japanese culture. When new teacher Ned Fadeley began teaching at the school last winter after two years of teaching in Japanese public schools, he took advantage of this natural interest and set-up a Japanese language class with the help of Gonzaga Graduate Student, Tomoe Fusato.
